Goal 12 - Responsible consumption & production
Responsible Consumption & Production SDG 12.2 - Sustainable management and use of natural resources
Why: Climate change is accelerating faster than the efforts to address it. The business community has a key role in taking action and coming up with new innovative solutions to combat climate change and increasing resource efficiency.
What we do: Investor's ownership strategy is based on the conviction that sustainable strategies are fundamental for creating long-term value. Given Investor’s long-term investment horizon it is crucial to take climate aspects into account in investment decisions.
Investor develops individual value creation plans for each portfolio company and drives the climate strategy through our board representatives in the individual companies. Investor also monitors and follows our companies progress through dialogue and reporting. The business teams and sustainability team engage with our portfolio companies on a regular basis. In 2023, Investor engaged with our 24 companies regarding sustainability. Investor follows-up with the companies each year regarding water consumption, waste and greenhouse gas emissions.
We have set a target to accelerate our portfolio companies’ climate strategies beyond their basic footprint, ensuring that all portfolio companies set relevant reduction targets related to their products, services or value chain (the portfolio companies’ scope 3). In 2023, 79% of the companies had scope 3 targets and 71% had resource efficiency targets.
One example: Responsible consumption and production
Electrolux strive to bring resource-efficient products, manufactured in a sustainable way, to as many people as possible. They have set science-based climate targets aligned with the Paris Climate Agreement, which aims to keep global temperature rise below 1.5°C this century. With this ambitious targets, they will prevent millions of metric tons of greenhouse gases from entering the atmosphere.
